Gibson has forever engraved its name in the hall of fame of guitar, from jazz to rock, blues and metal. Founded in 1894 by Orville H. Gibson in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA, the company has revolutionized the guitar world with technical and aesthetic innovations such as the humbuckers or the Flying V, Explorer and Firebird shapes. With ambassadors like Charlie Christian and Slash, or Tommi Iommi and, of course, Lester Polfus, Gibson crosses the ages and musical styles, and stands out as a must-have brand of guitar, both electric and acoustic.

Excessive, elegant and flamboyant, the Gibson SJ-200 has found glory in the hands of many legends: Elvis Presley, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Pete Townshend, Chris Martin of Coldplay, just to name a few... Dubbed the "queen of flat tops" by its creator, the Gibson SJ-200 Original is an oversized folk guitar, which used the same mold as the famous Jazz Super-400 from the Kalamazoo manufacturer, made to be heard in an ensemble.

Equipped with a Sitka spruce top, this guitar with its imposing size naturally favors fullness, roundness and a particularly powerful projection of the sound. Originally designed for country and western music, the Super Jumbo has been adopted by many in a wide variety of musical styles over the years because of its resonant sound with punchy bass and brilliant highs, enhanced by the beautiful figured maple back and sides.

This Gibson SJ-200 Original does not betray its heritage, even if the profile of its neck is more modern and more compatible with current musical styles. It has a long scale (25.5"), and a rosewood fingerboard, with standard frets, which make it very easy to handle and comfortable to play, even over long sessions. It's equipped with a state-of-the-art LR Baggs Anthem system to honor its original ambition to be played and heard on stage and in the studio. Which it does admirably.
