Especially known for attracting shredders and metalheads thanks to its ultra-thin necks, floating vibratos and 7, 8 and 9 (!) strings guitars, Ibanez has established itself as THE Japanese export brand. Founded in 1957 in Nagoya, Japan, Ibanez began by producing copies of the american brands such as Fender, Gibson and Rickenbacker, before creating its own. But it was in the 80's that the brand set itself as a staple of the rock and metal landscape, by signing virtuosos such as Joe Satriani or Steve Vai, and established itself as a reference when it comes to superstrats.

Ibanez is a leader in the metal and/or modern guitar market, and this Q52PB in its Antique Brown Stained finish strengthens that claim. Built with nyatoh and poplar for the body and maple and bubinga for the neck, it is airy and resonant, and looks great too. The headless format and the stratoid shape of the body make it comfortable to carry and balanced to play. But the surprise comes from the bridge and the Alter Switch.

The Mono-Tune bridge offers a wide range of intonation, which makes it easy to adjust the instrument if you tune it a semitone lower or even higher. The string height is also easily adjustable, and there is less material in each saddle overall, making for a more natural and organic sound. The Alter Switch controls the dyna-MIX 10, which offers ten tonal variations for easy switching between humbucker and single-coil modes, plus a Power Tap mode for a realistic single-coil sound despite the two humbucker coils.
