The MXR La Machine pedal is a fuzz with typical 70s grit—think Hendrix—with a built-in octaver that allows you to add an octave-up note to your signal in order to send your tone in another dimension, in addition to the frankly saturated sound you are probably looking for. The controls are simplistic, with Tone, Distortion and Output pots (each of which does exactly what it claims) and a mini switch to engage the octaver. True bypass.
