The Acouphonic Sable is one of the first pedals made by Acouphonic. It is a vintage style overdrive. The circuit is built around a silicon transistor and two diodes, one in germanium and the other in silicon, in order to get a very aggressive saturation while keeping some smoothness. The pair of diodes allows to clip the signal and to get close to a triode in saturation. The gain control is not really a gain control, it controls the voltage supply of the transistor to make it operate in rarely experienced ranges. Coupled with a Mercury boost, it will take you into fuzzy territories.
